There’s something about flipping the calendar to a new month that feels like a quiet invitation. A gentle reset. A moment to breathe. As May begins, it reminds me of Lamentations 3:23: “His mercies are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” And if God’s mercies are new every morning, they’re certainly new every month too.

Have you ever felt defeated because you’re starting over… again? Maybe it’s the third time, the tenth, or the twentieth. You’ve put in the work before, only to face setbacks or interruptions. I know how discouraging that can feel. Yesterday, as I was talking about restarting something for the third time, someone said something that completely reframed my perspective:
“You’re not starting as a beginner this time; you’re starting with experience.”
What a powerful truth!
After this week, my husband and I realized something… we are not “busy vacation people” anymore.
We used to love to pack our vacations with things to do and see. When we would travel somewhere, it was always a busy experience as we tried to see everything!
Since we have started the process of slowing down to “see the details in everything”, we have lost the thrill of “seeing everything”!
Life moves fast, doesn’t it? One minute you’re juggling work, family, friendships, and responsibilities, and the next thing you know, you’re running on empty, wondering where the peace went. I get it. I’ve been caught up in that same whirlwind, chasing after the idea of “balance,” trying to slow things down, thinking that if I could just get my schedule under control, I’d finally feel content. But here’s the truth: it’s not about how much we slow down. It’s about finding a different kind of rhythm—a pace of grace.
