Because sometimes the pace won’t change, but your heart can.
If your calendar looks anything like mine right now, it feels like May-cember. School is wrapping up. Sports are in full swing. Work is busy. Family life is non-stop. And honestly? Slowing down isn’t always an option.
But here’s what I’m learning in this season: Peace doesn’t always come from a lighter schedule. Sometimes, peace is found right in the middle of the hustle — when our hearts pause even if our calendars can’t.
So what can we do when life stays busy?
Here are three ways I’ve been finding peace even when the pace stays fast:
1. Start your day with one grounding moment.
It doesn’t have to be a full quiet time or an hour-long devotional (though those are beautiful when possible). It might be a simple prayer in the shower: “Lord, steady my heart today.” Or reading one verse before you check your phone. That one moment can anchor your whole day in truth.
2. Choose margin where you can, not where you can’t.
Sometimes we try to overhaul everything when we feel overwhelmed. But peace grows when we find small pockets of rest. Margin doesn’t always mean hours of free time. It often means intentional pauses.
Could you…
Protect 5 quiet minutes in the car before picking up the kids?
Say no to one extra commitment this week?
Take a walk without multitasking or scrolling?
3. Remember: God’s peace is a gift, not something to earn.
Philippians 4:7 reminds us:
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Notice it doesn’t say “the peace you created” or “the peace you produced.” It’s God’s peace. Given freely. Even when life is loud.
Friend, if your life won’t slow down right now, I want you to hear this:
Your pace doesn’t disqualify you from peace. The Prince of Peace is with you in the fast, the slow, and everything in between. Let Him meet you there.

What’s one simple way you’re creating a pause or finding peace in this season?
