Joy isn’t the absence of weariness—it’s the presence of God.
I don’t know about you, but some days joy feels easy. The sun is shining, the coffee is hot, and the kids are actually getting along. (A miracle in itself.)
But other days? Joy feels like a choice I have to fight for. Not because I don’t love my life. Not because I’m not grateful. But because weariness is real.
If you’re there too, I want to gently remind you: Joy and weariness can coexist. And you can cultivate joy right where you are.
3 Ways to Cultivate Joy in a Weary Season
1. Name what’s weighing you down. Sometimes the fastest way to reclaim joy is to be honest about what’s heavy. Pray this simple prayer: “Lord, help me name what’s draining me—and give me wisdom for what to do next.” God can’t heal what we won’t acknowledge.
2. Notice the small gifts. Joy doesn’t always come in big, dramatic moments. It often looks like:
• A quiet morning. • A deep breath. • A kind word from a friend.
So even the smallest moments—when noticed with God—become invitations to joy.
“In your presence there is fullness of joy.”
3. Let joy be strength, not pressure. Joy isn’t a task to add to your to-do list. It’s a strength God gives. Even when you’re tired. Even when you’re waiting. Even when the breakthrough hasn’t come.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Friend, if you’re weary today, you’re not failing. You’re human. And God’s joy meets us in our humanity. You don’t have to chase joy. You just have to receive it.
Let’s encourage each other:
